Paris, Tenn.—LL’s Bar and Grill in Paris will have a new look soon, with Owner Louis Long planning an open air pavilion to be located on the side of the building.
Long applied for a variance to the city’s front yard setback regulations and was unanimously approved at Thursday night’s meeting of the Paris Board of Zoning Appeals.
Long plans to place the pavilion on the west side of the business at 334 East Washington St. and his plan is to place the 30 ft. x 30 ft. structure ten feet from the existing building. Community Development Director Jennifer Morris said future development surrounding the property is minimal as the two adjacent parcels are owned by the county and the property to the west of the county property is owned by the city of Paris.
With LL’s Bar and Grill known far and wide for their good burgers, City Mayor Carlton Gerrell asked facetiously, “This in no way is going to affect the cheeseburgers, is it?”
Long said, “It will make the cheeseburgers even better because of the natural breeze outside”.
Long also asked whether he could make plans to have a three-piece band perform in the pavilion. City Manager Kim Foster said it shouldn’t be a problem as long as the music wasn’t too loud.
According to Morris, the pavilion would set back from the front line of the existing business by 10 feet, which required the variance to allow a 10 foot setback as opposed to the required 50 foot setback. Because of constraints with the width of the property, a 50 foot setback would not be possible in this case.
