Paris, Tenn.–The Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce welcomed administrators from surrounding educational institutions Saturday to Kentucky Lake. Invitations were sent to the Presidents of Austin Peay State University, Bethel University, Union University, Tennessee State University, Jackson State Community College, Lane University, The University of Tennessee at Martin, and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.
Both Dr. Brian Norton of the Henry County School System and Dr. Norma Gerrell of the Paris Special School District were present.
“This was an incredible opportunity for our community to network with these institutions,” according to Travis McLeese, Executive Director of the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce. “Not only were we able to build relationships, we had in-depth conversations regarding Workforce Development, preparing our students for their schools, and of course, bringing their Marching Bands to the World’s Biggest Fish Fry!”
McLeese said, “This was not the first time an event like this has happened. The goal was to create a casual setting where these leaders could come to the lake and enjoy our hospitality. Our geographical location for education opportunities is major asset to our community. I look forward to following up on these conversations.”
The event was hosted by City Commissioner Sam Tharpe, and his wife Gale.
