Turnout continues steady in Obion and Henry Counties since the early voting period began last week on July 13.
Obion County’s totals are higher than those for Henry County, most probably because of the sheriff’s race bringing out more voters.
By Friday afternoon, the total of voters in Obion County casting ballots during early voting is 2,285, while in Henry County, the total is 1,957.
In both counties, voters are overwhelmingly casting Republican ballots.
Obion County Elections Director Leigh Schlager said of that total, 1,608 voted Republican, 432 Democrat and 245 general election ballot only.
Henry County Elections Director Delaina Green said in Henry County, of the overall total of 1,957, 1,504 have voted Republican, 441 Democrat and 12 general election ballot only.
The early voting period runs through July 28.
