Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Town of Huntingdon and the Huntingdon Public Safety Department have entered into an agreement with the Huntingdon Special School District to provide School Resource Officers to the Huntingdon schools. Beginning Wednesday August 1 the police department will be providing an officer to each of the three schools in the district. The officers are Patrolman Paul Hugueley, Patrolman Drake Whitworth and Patrolman Jackie Allen.
Director of Public Safety Randall McGowan said, “This is seen as a positive move for both the schools and the police department. The students will not find it new to see officers in their buildings, officers from the department have been going to the schools before classes in the mornings and conducting numerous walk throughs in our schools since 2012. While there have been no problems in our schools we mutually agreed that it was time to follow suit with other schools and police departments in attempting to maintain the highest level of security for our students. We look forward to building on our already good relationships with both the school personnel and the students.”
