At a public event last night at Murray’s CFSB Center, Murray State sophomore point-guard Ja Morant announced his decision to leave the Racers after two seasons to enter the NBA Draft.

LISTEN: Morant’s NBA Announcement
This season, Morant became the first player in Division 1 history to average 20 points and 10 assists per game. He was the OVC Player of the Year, a consensus All-America selection, and a finalist for all four national Player of the Year awards. The hype and attention for Morant began at Racer Mania last October when he made a dunk jumping over four teammates.

The focus on the Racer star grew with weekly Sportscenter and Social Media highlights, culminating at the NCAA Tournament when Morant recorded just the ninth triple-double in tournament history in the win over Marquette. Morant is set to become the Racers’ third NBA draft pick since 2013 when Isaiah Canaan was selected by the Houston Rockets. Cameron Payne was taken by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015. The NBA Draft is June 20 in Brooklyn, New York.
