Lyon County, Ky.–Lyon County Fire Marshal Bill Compton was honored with a PAWS Certificate of Appreciation from the Lyon County PAWS group for his spontaneous act of kindness in comforting a dog after an auto accident in which its owner was killed last month. The dog did not want to leave its owner’s side following the accident in Eddyville and Compton sat down on the side of the road comforting the dog. The photo became viral. The PAWS group–which stands for Pets Are Worth Saving–said it was a pleasure honoring Compton with the certificate.
