Paris, Tenn.–Travis McLeese, Executive Director of the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, was guest speaker for the Paris Quota’s October 23rd meeting, noting that the Chamber is the driving force for Henry County community and economic tourism development.
He said that in 2018, $56.8 M in tourism revenue was brought into Henry County and tax proceeds from this revenue reduces the average property tax by $800.
At least one event per month is planned to bring tourists into Henry County, McLeese said, including the recent Froggy Fest Music Festival, Arts Around the Square and fishing tournaments. The local Eiffel Tower Park is one of the largest parks of its kind this side of Nashville and he hopes it will serve as one of the venues for the next music festival.
He said membership is the core of the Chamber and we are fortunate that the City and County Commissioners and the Chamber work well together.
The club has six cases of pecan pieces left from last year’s crop. Pecans are $2 less than the regular price because they are from the 2018 crop. They have been stored in a cool, dry place so will still be fresh. Quota just needs to sell these before this year’s crop arrives. They will be set up again on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 with any pecans that have not sold.
