Buchanan, Tenn.–Henry and Calloway County law enforcement continue their search Friday for an inmate who escaped from a Calloway County work detail and abandoned the county truck he stole in the Buchanan area Thursday afternoon.
Henry Rickard Jr. was incarcerated in Calloway County on drug and weapons charges and authorities said he should be considered dangerous.
Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew told WENK/WTPR Friday morning that local deputies are working in conjunction with Calloway County deputies on the continuing search for Rickard.
“We’re calling up any leads out there,” Belew said. “We’re contacting his known associates and following leads and we’re confident we will turn something up in the next day or so.”
Sgt. Wayne Fuqua and his K9 Adora attempted a track at the site of the abandoned truck Thursday, but Belew said it is believed that Rickard was picked up by someone.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. Thursday, the Kentucky State Police Post was notified of an escape from a work detail. Jailers reported Rickard was last seen operating a Calloway County Road Department vehicle in the area of Sycamore Industrial Road in Murray.
That truck later turned up abandoned near the intersection of Route 119 and Rabbit’s Creek Rd.
Henry Rickard Jr. is described as a white male standing 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 140 pounds. He has salt and pepper hair and brown eyes.
Belew said Rickard has lived off and on in Henry County and is no stranger to local law enforcement.
The public is asked not to approach Rickard if located. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Henry Rickard Jr. is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 731 642 1672, Kentucky State Police at 270-856-3721 or by dialing 911.
