Union City, Tenn.—Warrants have been issued for a Union City man after he fled from officers during a traffic stop Thursday, jumping out of a moving car which then rammed into an occupied parked car.
Warrants are issued for Robert Darian Williams, age 33, of 1114 E. College St. He is charged with evading arrest, resisting stop, reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license and failure to use turn signal.
Union City Police attempted to stop Williams for not using a turn signal when he turned from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive onto Greenwood St. The officer activated his blue lights but Williams did not stop and turned east on Mercer, where he jumped out of the moving car.
According to the report, the car was still in drive and continued to move forward when it hit a parked car with a person sitting inside the car. Williams then ran through a yard on Mercer Street and began jumping fences.
Police called off the foot pursuit and returned to the vehicle which was still in drive and running. The vehicle that had been hit had already been moved around the block and the person sitting in the car appeared not to be injured, although the vehicle was damaged.
