Paris FFA Wins Big Again: Pooler Is National Proficiency Winner

Paris, Tenn.–The Paris FFA can add even more accolades to their list: Jacob Pooler of Paris is the 2019 National Proficiency Winner in Turfgrass management at the 92nd National FFA Convention. Pooler is the third national winner in as many years for the Paris FFA.

Pooler works for the family turf farm, Tri Turf Sod. FFA Advisor Laura Moss noted that when Pooler was named a finalist, he was one of 188 National FFA.

And, the Paris FFA Chapter was named a National 3 Star chapter for the 6th time in the last seven years.
Upon winning the top honor, Pooler said, “This is a dream come true for me and my family to win this award.  I love the turf grass industry and can not wait to work side by side with my father full time.”
Fellow FFA Members Britian Hutson and Gracie Milam won National Gold: 6th In Nation In Power, Structure and Technical Systems Agri-science Fair Division 6.  They worked together to determine the best way to keep their livestock within their pens with electric fencing.
Moss said, “Our students work so hard and push themselves to strive for achieve way more than I would have thought possible.”
She also noted seven Paris FFA members received their American Degrees, the highest degree awarded to an FFA member.
They are: Allie Jo Shankle, Alysha Bevill, Emily Hudgins, Anna Pettit, Hunter Goodman, Ryan Patrum and Madison Aiosa. They are among the 186 Tennessee FFA members and 3000+ total receiving American Degrees.
