Big Sandy, Tenn.–The public is invited to the dedication of a new bridge in Benton County in honor of the late Sonny Melton, who was killed October 1, 2017, in the mass shooting in Las Vegas.
He died shielding his wife, Heather, from the bullets that killed 58 and wounded hundreds who were attending a music festival that night.
The new bridge is on the Lower Big Sandy Road and replaces an old structure that had been in existence since the early 60s; Benton County received a grant to build it. The County Highway Department has been working on the project since July and completed the work ahead of schedule.
The bridge will be dedicated at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 19.
