Mayfield, Ky.–Two people were shot by the homeowner during a home invasion early Tuesday morning in Graves County. The suspects were seriously injured.
Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden said the incident occurred around 12:05 a.m. on Tom Drive in the southern portion of the county.
Hayden said two persons have been confirmed shot by the homeowner and have been taken to area hospitals. Hayden said injuries to the two suspects are considered serious and they are in stable condition early this morning.
Sheriff’s deputies and KSP troopers arrived minutes after receiving the 911 call to find one person had been shot multiple times. Another person who also had been shot was located minutes later in Mayfield.
Detectives were called to the scene and remained there until around 5 AM processing the scene, interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. The Kentucky State Police also assisted at the scene.
The two individuals shot did not live at the home and one was taken to a Paducah hospital, and the other taken by air ambulance to a Nashville hospital. Both remain in stable condition as of 5 AM.
There is no danger to the area or the residential area where this incident occurred, Hayden said. A third suspect has fled from the area.
