Paris, Tenn. – The Henry County Patriots’ run in the 2019 TSSAA State Football play-offs came to an end on Friday night at the hands of Dyer County by a final score of 31-24.
The third round match-up between the two Region 7-5A foes saw Henry County get on the scoreboard first on a two- yard touchdown run by Joseph Travis with the extra point being made by Darrius Stephens. Henry County led by a score of 7-0. Then with 7:37 left in the second quarter, Henry County QB Ryan Damron tossed a touchdown pass to Jawon Odoms for 75 yards and the extra point was good. Henry County led by a 14-0 margin.
Dyer County would score with :52 seconds left in the half on a 15-yard touchdown pass to make the score Henry County 14 Dyer County 7. The Big Red would finish the first half scoring with a 27-yard field goal by Darrius Stephens to make it 17-7 at the break.
Henry County would come out quickly in the 3rd quarter and score on a 65-yard touchdown run by Jayln Foster to make it 24-7. That would be all of the scoring for the Patriots on the night as Dyer County exploded and scored 24 unanswered points to win the game by a final score of 31-24.
Henry County QB Ryan Damron finished the night passing 11 of 16 for 158 yards and one TD. Running Back Jayln Foster lead Henry County in rushing with 12 carries for 137 yards and a TD while receiver Jawon Odoms made eight catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. The Patriots finish the football season as Region 7-5 A regular season champions and a record of 10-3.
