Camden, Tenn.–Paris Attorney Vicki Hoover was elected as the Republican candidate for Chancellor in the 24th Judicial District at the convention held Saturday afternoon in Benton County.
Candidates for the position were Hoover, Assistant District Attorney Vance Dennis of Savannah and McKenzie Attorney Brent Bradberry.
The selection process began in October with a Republican caucus in Henry County at which Hoover received overwhelming support.
Hoover told WENK/WTPR on Sunday how honored she was to have been elected. “I appreciate all the delegates who served at the convention held Saturday afternoon in Benton county.”
Hoover said, “I especially want to thank my Henry County Republican friends for making it happen and setting the standard for the district. It is my desire to help the people of the 24th Judicial District of Tennessee one family at a time. I also want to thank Brent Bradberry and Vance Dennis for running a clean race. Big thanks to the Tennessee GOP for a well run district caucus. I look forward to seeing everyone on the campaign trail.”
The 24th District Chancery Court represents five counties: Henry, Carroll, Benton, Decatur and Hardin.
The Chancellor vacancy was created by the appointment and confirmation of Judge Carma Dennis McGee to the Court of Appeals, Western Section. McGee announced her resignation in April to accept the Court of Appeals position.
After an interview process earlier this year, Governor Bill Lee appointed Huntingdon Attorney Jennifer King to the Chancellor position. King resigned after two weeks amid controversy over the caucus process and allegations by King of ‘meddling’ in the election process by local and area GOP officials.
