Paris, Tenn.–Ryan Cross, a Practical Nursing student at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Paris is one of six remaining competitors in the Tennessee Board of Regents’ Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition (SOAR) program. The state competition will be held in March in Nashville.
Cross, the daughter of Christi Cross of Paris, is a life-long resident of Henry County. She is scheduled to graduate in December and plans to work as a licensed practical nurse while pursuing her RN degree.
Earning the local title in October, she was nominated by her instructor, GeNan Pendergrass. Two finalists from each regional competition will move on to compete for the state title in March. The winner of the state title, which is awarded for excellence in leadership and ability, will serve as the spokesperson for technical education in the state of Tennessee.
The TCAT-Paris offers training opportunities in 12 programs. They are Administrative Office, Collision Repair, Cosmetology, Health Information Management, Industrial Maintenance, Information Systems Management, Machine Tool, Motorcycle/ATV Repair, Outdoor Power Equipment, Practical Nursing, Residential Building Maintenance and Welding.
