Stewart County, Tenn.–A Tennessee Ridge man pleaded guilty in Stewart Co. General Sessions Court to illegally shooting a rare piebald deer in November.
On Monday, November 18, TWRA Officers received a call about a piebald deer being illegally shot from the road at Hwy 49 and Old 18 in Stewart County.
TWRA officers responded to the call and began an investigation. Several witnesses had observed a vehicle and gave the officers a description. Officers developed information which lead to a suspect. Officers then interviewed suspect Zachary Bryant who admitted that he had shot the piebald doe from the road.
On Tuesday, December 3, Zachary Bryant from Tennessee Ridge pled guilty in Stewart County General Sessions court to four charges. Judge Brigham accepted the guilty pleas to hunting from a motor vehicle, shooting from a public road, hunting without a license, and hunting without permission. Judge Brigham assessed a $100 fine plus court cost, a $500 restitution to TWRA for the piebald deer, loss of hunting/trapping privileges for three years, forfeiture of his Marlin .22 rifle and Bryant is on probation for 11 months and 29 days.
