Arrest Warrant Issued On Identity Theft, Harassment Charges

Murray, Ky.–An arrest warrant has been issued for a Benton, Ky. woman by the Murray Police on identity theft and harassment charges.
In October of this year the Murray Police Department began an investigation into an
ongoing incident that was reported and turned over to the Investigations Division, according to Sgt. Brant Shutt.
The victim said she has been the target of several fake messages that have been sent by text and by
social media that others have claimed to be from her and that it has been occurring for
approximately two years.
Murray Police Department Detective Angel Clere began looking into the messages that
have been sent. A search warrant was conducted for the computer IP addresses where the
messages were sent from the fake social media account that was made to look like it was the
victim.
During the investigation the Murray Police Department identified Tonya Clevidence, age 46,
of Benton as being the person who created the false social media account. It was also learned
that Clevidence created a spoof text number that she had used to send text messages to certain
individuals to make them believe they were coming from the victim instead of herself.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Tonya Clevidence for the following charges: Theft of
Identity (Class D Felony) and Harassing Communications (Class B Misdemeanor).
