Huntingdon, Tenn.–The winner of the “No Shave November-Battle of the Beards” has been announced but the best part of the month-long contest was raising $1,100 for the Carl Perkins Center Food Pantry.
Sgt. Chris Cole was selected by employees of the Cornerstone Eatery to have the best beard and Cornerstone Owner Chase Inman presented Sgt. Cole a gift card and gave each participating member of the department a free meal.
Director of Public Safety Walter Smothers said, “We are proud of our accomplishment in raising $1100 for the Carl Perkins food pantry and we believe that our efforts with the support of the local media has helped raise awareness of the food pantry and the need to support it. Other groups and individuals are now currently in the process of their own efforts to collect food for the pantry.”
He thanked their sponsors, Huntingdon Sonic, Tates Chapel Church, Darnals Barber Shop and Diane & Everett Wiler. “We look forward to making this a yearly event”, he said.
