HCMC's Dr. Finley Honored

PARIS, TN – Henry County Medical Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Amanda Finley was recently recognized by the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA) with the Preceptor of the Year award for her dedication and support toward the PA profession and the students she oversees.

Each year, TAPA recognizes individuals who are shining stars in the PA profession.
The Awards Committee seeks individuals who demonstrate professional accomplishment, professional involvement, community service and other qualities that promote the PA profession.

Dr. Finley is originally from McKenzie, and graduated from McKenzie High School. She studied biochemistry at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and attended medical school at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Dr. Finley completed her residency at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.

In addition to her hospitalist role, Dr. Finley serves as HCMC’s Director of Medical Education and Medical Director of Student Affairs. She is active in research and has two publications in the BMJ.

Dr. Finley resides in Paris with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, and traveling. She is looking forward to getting involved in the community and introducing her children to Henry County.

“I am thankful for each student I teach,” said Dr. Finley.  “It is a privilege and a responsibility to ensure that we equip the next generation.  Bethel University is teaching physician assistants who will go out and take care of communities often outside of the resources that are available in large cities.  To equip the front line of medicine with the knowledge to care for a large often underserved population is a huge burden.  Access to care, timely diagnosis and treatment, collaboration, and appropriate referrals is the foundation to building our healthcare community.”
