Due to school closings across the state (illness), THEC/TSAC has decided to extend the 2020-2021 FAFSA submission deadline to Friday, February 7 by 11:59pm. We encourage you to not wait this long in case there are snags or hold-ups with your senior’s FAFSA, but we wanted you to know about this extension in the case that you needed it. Please remember that even if your student submitted their FAFSA without parent financial information, this parent information MUST be submitted before your senior can receive ANY federal financial aid.
Seniors need to be checking their email daily. Colleges will be sending requests for documents, financial information, and orientation dates. If your senior will be living on campus, housing applications and deposits may be due so look into that.
Scholarships are rolling in. Encourage your senior to stop by the counseling office each week to check the red scholarship file folder. The scholarships can also be found on the school website under the “Students”, “School Counseling”, and “Scholarships” tabs in that order.
Graduation cap and gown orders should be placed by now. If your senior has not done this, you can go to Jostens.com to place this order. The basic graduation necessities–cap, gown, tassel, and diploma cover–will cost $46 plus tax.
