Camden, Tenn.–The Benton County Rescue Squad participated in an interagency training exercise along with the Camden Fire Department Monday evening. The Rescue Squad provided support for the Fire Department by lighting up the scene of a structural firefighting training exercise by sending Rescue 1, which has a retractable light tower capable of providing sufficient lighting for fireground operations. According to Rescue Squad Sgt. David Tuck, “The light tower on Rescue 1 enables firefighters to perform nighttime operations by lighting up the entire scene making the fireground much safer for all personnel.”
The Squad has provided mutual aid to Fire Department in the past on large structure fires. Most recently, the Squad responded with Fire Department to the fire at Busby’s Tire Alignment shop on Hwy 70 East in Camden back in December. In addition to scene lighting, they assist with evacuation, traffic control, firefighter rehabilitation, and equipment.
The rescue squad is staffed by dedicated volunteers from the community who continually train to be able to respond to many types of accidents. In addition to vehicle extrication, the Rescue Squad provides other vital services to the residents of Benton County including farm rescue, water rescue and recovery, land searches, and trench rescue.
