Nashville, Tenn. — The Tennessee Valley Authority has issued a water traffic caution due to downed transmission lines on the Cumberland River in Davidson County.
As a result of the EF-3 tornado, three lines were downed across the river between Whites Creek and the old State Prison on Bomar Boulevard. Crews will begin removing the lines on Wed., March 4. The U.S. Coast Guard has closed this area to river traffic until the lines are removed.
Rebuilding the three lines will then take several weeks. During construction, water traffic will be limited.
Watercraft operators should avoid the area. Safety boats will be in place. Everyone in the area should heed warnings of the safety patrol boats and personnel that will be on patrol in the area. Marine channels 13, 16 and 81 will be monitored by the safety boats.
