Union City, Tenn.–Read Across America and Dr. Seuss Week went out with a bang at Union City Schools.

Meanwhile, those events coincided with National Beta Week and several UC High School students happily participated in the festivities at UCES.

Three Beta Club members (Imani Peat, Amari Bonds and Dalton Bone) read the classics to Union City Elementary School classes on Tuesday, while several Beta volunteers, including Davie Townes, Dalton Bone and Kobe Terrell, helped greet and open doors for car riders at the school on Thursday.

Each year during the celebration, UC Elementary School librarian Mindy McClanahan hosts a bookmark design contest.

Three winners from each grade and those winners receive gift certificates to the school’s upcoming book fair.

This year’s winners include:

Front row, from left: Jeremiah Mobbs, Sadie Gregg, Charlie Belle Cruce, Paisley Trout, Sam Kissell;

Second row, from left: Peyton Daniels, Ian Cribb, Ryn Conner, Kora Jess Powers, Breaunia Booker, Aryia Esters;

Third row, from left: Blythe Ogden, Phoebe Coleman, Rylan Ali Bondurant, Averi Riley, Skyler Hillin, Maria Lopez and Yariyiah Coleman.
