Erin, Tenn.–Reversing their earlier decision, Houston County and Erin officials announced today the annual Irish Celebration which draws thousands each year will be postponed until October “out of an abundance of caution and due to public concern.”

In its announcement, Houston County Chamber President Lisa Moore and Erin Mayor Paul Bailey said they called a special meeting again, ‘for the fourth time in as many days’ to discuss whether to have the Irish Celebration amid the concerns over the Coronavirus.

A meeting with representatives of the Rec Club, Fair Board, Rotary Club, Health Department EMS, hospital, sheriff’s office, fire departments and police departments was held and after a discussion of health and safety concerns, “it was sadly determined” the celebration would be postponed.
