UCMS Celebrate Big Seasons With Banquets

Union City, Tenn.–Union City’s Middle School basketball squads recently celebrated their respective seasons with separate banquets.

The Tornado boys, who won the Jimmy Whitby Tip-Off Classic and finished as runners-up in the year-ending Blue Suede Invitational among their season highlights, honored eight members from their squad that finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 17-7 record.

Among those receiving awards from head coach Andre Coby were:

(Back row, from left) Joseph Lattus, Coaches Award; Kweli Purifoy, Most Rebounds; Jack Tully, Most Improved; and Trystan Smothers, Best Defense Award.

Members of the UCMS girls’ team were also honored by head coach Chris Palmer after finishing their season with a 14-10 mark.

Those receiving individual accolades included:

Audri Ostrander, Manager Appreciation Award; Marlee Theobald, Best Offense and Tornado Award; Emmaline Qualls, Best Defense; Clare Atwill, Highest GPA;

Debrionna Jones, Most Improved; Brittany Murphy, Manager Appreciation Award; Aujani Moss, Coaches Award; and Jermyia Bonds, Coaches Award; Ada Rogers, Most Improved

Palmer also handed out special recognition to all eighth-graders on his squad.

The group included:

Marlee Theobald, Audri Ostrander, Aujani Moss, Brooklyn Murphy, Emmaline Qualls, Kadi Oliver;

Brittany Murphy, Caty Jo Hoffman and Jermyia Bonds; Ada Rogers.
