Waving To The Henry Pirates–From A Distance

Henry, Tenn.–Monday’s ‘drive-by’ to greet Henry Elementary School students was a definite success and made both students and staff feel better.

Principal David Kibbler, Assistant Principal Robin House and Intervention Teacher Lisa Olive drove by students’ houses with signs and big waves Monday. And they received a lot of big waves and signs showing from the students’ houses in return.

Kibbler said, “If we remain closed, we will plan another run. We were able to visit around 80% of our students on Monday. Many of them came out and waved at us, and one family had even made their own signs to greet us.”

Kibbler said the trio headed out at 9 a.m. and armed with maps of bus routes, were able to drive by 80 percent of the homes in 5 1.2 hours.

“It sure did our hearts good to see some of our kiddos even if it was from a distance,” he said.
