Union City, Tenn.–Governor Bill Lee announced he will be lifting the Stay at Home mandate for Tennesseans effective Friday, May 1, 2020. In response, Union City Energy Authority will re-open its lobby for customers needing to establish or change service.
Union City Energy will be following the state guidelines of social distancing in its lobby. When establishing service (1) person on the lease or (1) home owner will be allowed inside and additional family members are asked to remain in their vehicle if at all possible and to maintain a safe distance from other customers once inside.
Energy Authority CEO Jerry Baileysaid, “We are also asking customers to continue to make payments using our drive-thru, night deposit, on-line at www.unioncityenergy.com or by calling 1.866.578.7549. We will continue to absorb the transaction fees associated with credit/debit card or check payments in addition to waving late fees and penalties through May 31, 2020. Our goal is to help alleviate any financial burden our customers may feel during this COVID-19 pandemic.”
Union City Energy Authority recognizes many customers have been waiting for their internet service to be installed. To protect both customers and technicians UCEA suspended new internet installs during the state Safe at Home mandate. Beginning May 1, 2020, internet installations will resume with state guidelines being followed by technicians. Customers are asked to please be patient as UCEA works through the backlog of pending internet installs.
“We will continue to modify our operations as conditions warrant to keep both our customers and employees as safe as possible. We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding”, Bailey said.
