Murray Woman Injured When Struck By Vehicle

Murray, Ky.–A pedestrian hurrying to cross the street in Murray Sunday was struck by a vehicle.

Komega Hayes, age 40, of Murray, was treated at the emergency room of the local hospital. The driver, Karen Bolls, age 76, also of Murray, was not cited.

The Murray Police Department responded to the collision at the intersection of
Highway 121 and North 12 th Street around 11:07 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers spoke with
Karen Bolls who said she was driving north on 12th Street approaching the
intersection with Highway 121 and had a green light.

She proceeded through the intersection and as she did, a woman identified as Komega Hayes
ran into the road in front of her. Bolls said she attempted to avoid striking
Hayes, but she was unable to avoid her.

Officers also spoke with Hayes; she said she thought there was enough time to cross the street before Bolls got into the intersection.

Hayes was transported to the emergency room by the ambulance service. The Murray
Police Department was assisted on scene by the Murray Fire Department and the Murray
Calloway County Ambulance Service.
