McKenzie, Tenn.–The long-awaited reopening of Carroll Lake is set for May 1. The reopening was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this month.
Carroll Lake has been closed since June 2014 when flooding destroyed the spillway. The lake was drained and through hard work by the TWRA, it was dredged and restocked and the spillway repaired.
TWRA officials said Carroll Lake will be open to fishing seven days a week. It is open 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset.
A fishing license and a daily lake permit are required to fish. All residents 16 through 64 years of age, and non-residents 16 years of age or older must have a lake permit. Sportsman license and lifetime license holders do not need a lake permit.
