Paris, Tenn.–A larger than expected crowd was on hand on the Henry County Courthouse lawn Thursday for the annual Day of Prayer. Organizers had considered cancelling the event, decided to proceed with it but didn’t expect very many people to attend. Some 75 people were on hand, though, and practiced social distancing guidelines.
Speakers at the event were County Mayor Brent Greer, Dr. Trent Bullock of First Baptist Church, Steve Gallimore of Tennessee Valley Community Church, Dr. John Dandridge of Quinn Chapel AME Church, Henry County Director of Schools Dr. Norma Gerrell. Brother Randy Stephens of Van Dyke Church of Christ offered a prayer for local governments dealing with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
