DUI Arrest Follows Calloway County Wreck

Murray, Ky.–A Murray man was arrested for aggravated DUI after a two-vehicle accident in Calloway County Saturday afternoon.

Jeremy Darnell, age 39, was charged with aggravated DUI second offense and taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.

The other driver, Jonathan Casner, age 29, of Murray, was treated at Murray-Calloway County Hospital for minor injuries and released.

The Calloway County 911 dispatch received a call at 4:36 p.m. Saturday reporting a two-vehicle collision with injuries in the 5400 block of State Route 121N.

Initial investigation releaved the Dodge Charger driven by Darnell failed to observe a GMC Sierra truck pulling a trailer driven by Casner, which was slowing to turn into a driveway. Darnell’s vehicle struck the rear of the trailer, causing both vehicles to come to rest off the roadway.

According to the press release, upon further investigation, Darnell admitted to deputies he was driving and driving.

Both drivers were evaluated at the scene by Murray-Calloway County EMS and both refused transport by ambulance.

The accident and subsequent criminal charges are being investigated by Deputy J. Silvester.
The Calloway County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Murray-Calloway
County EMS and Calloway County Fire-Rescue.
