Buchanan, Tenn.–A Troy woman, her young daughter and the family dog were able to escape from their burning car Sunday morning near Paris Landing State Park. The fire was extinguished by the Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire Chief Reggie Coles said at approximately 11 am Sunday, Paris Landing Firefighters and Henry County Sheriff’s officers were dispatched on a report of a car on fire on Highway 79N near Bull Durham Road.

Arriving units found a red 2010 Kia Soul with the front of the car fully engulfed in flames.  The driver, LaCinda Rollins of Troy said she was driving and thought she could see smoke coming from under the hood. She pulled over and called a family member to come and help see what was wrong.

While on the phone flames erupted from under the hood.  She was able to exit the vehicle safely with her young daughter and the family dog.  The car was a total loss.  Damage is estimated at $10,000.  Two trucks and 12 firefighters were on the scene for 30 minutes.  A State Park Ranger also assisted with the call.
