Rare Pink Unicorn Sighting In Paris Draws Crowd

library-unicorn

Paris, Tenn.–Sparky, the pink unicorn, drew a crowd of 300 kids and parents to the Eiffel Tower Park in Paris Wednesday morning. Sponsored by the W.G. Rhea Library, the event was part of the library’s Summer Program and also was aired on Facebook Live. The ‘unicorn’ belongs to Loretta Pemberton of Milan. Everyone was invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on and stories about unicorns were read to the kids by Children’s Librarian Kayla Nation. Nation said this year’s Summer Reading Series has been affected by the ongoing COVID-19 guidelines and that most of the events this year have been online. “But with the turnout we got today, we’re going to start having more in-person events at Eiffel Tower Park where we can all spread out,” Nation said. The library will announce future activities planned at the park, which may include a program next Wednesday on dragons. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
