After 9 Test Positive & One Death, Etheridge House Now Has No Positive COVID-19 Cases

Union City, Tenn.–After nine residents tested positive for COVID-19 and one death earlier, The Etheridge House in Union City is now reporting no positive cases at the Americare facility.

According to a press release, a final round of COVID-19 testing showed no positive cases.

“According to CDC guidelines and with the approval of our infectious disease physicians the special COVID care unit first established on May 30 at Etheredge House is being closed today and all residents on the unit are considered recovered from the virus. Residents will be relocated back to their original rooms,” officials said.

In all, of the nine residents who tested positive for the virus, seven were cared for at the special care unit. Two residents who required a higher level of care were transferred to Baptist Memorial Hospital’s skilled nursing unit where one eventually succumbed to the virus. An additional 28 residents on the campus were protected from the virus by establishing the special care unit and following the stringent infection control processes it requires.

With no positive residents, the in-room quarantine at the facility has also been lifted.
