Martin, Tenn.–Amber Minton, head coach of the University of Tennessee at Martin dance team, has released details for virtual tryouts for the 2020-21 Skyhawk dance squad.
All interested participants must be a full-time UT Martin student. The dance team is part of the Athletic Department and will perform at all home basketball games with potentially other appearances throughout the year. There is currently no funding available for dancers – interested participants will fundraise and cover all costs.
A list of materials should be submitted before Friday, Aug. 21 to Minton by emailing utmcheertryout@gmail.com. Appearance is an important part of the tryout process as all interested participants should dress the part and appear gameday ready.
The following is required: a tryout application; a liability waiver; a video that should include 5-8 count pom style dance including but not limited to turns (single or double pirouettes), kicks (high, fan, other variation), tricks (acrobatic/tumbling) and motions; a video of a toe touch; a video of tumbling (optional).
