Paris, Tenn.–Rhea School Principal Chris Hudgins and Henry County Schools Special Populations Director were two of many volunteers helping to hand out free backpacks and school supplies at the 2020 Back to School Bash Saturday. Organizer Michelle Brewer said 1,030 free backpacks with supplies were given out during the event, held at the county fairgrounds. The event was sponsored by The Shed, the Family Resource center and Trinity United Methodist Church and volunteers were from numerous community groups. Due to COVID-19, this year’s event was a drive-through and Brewer said by 8 a.m., an hour before the event started, there already were cars four rows deep waiting in line. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
