
Paris, Tenn.–At a meeting of the Henry County Tourism Authority Monday morning, county officials voiced optimism concerning upcoming events planned for Kentucky Lake, with two tournaments — a national kayak bass fishing tournament and a state bass tournament –approved.
Some tournaments originally scheduled for this year had been postponed or cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
County Mayor Brent Greer said, “It’s good to see several fishing tournaments expressing the desire to return to Kentucky Lake.”
–The HCTA Board approved a 3-year-deal with Kayak Bass Fishing tournaments for this October and again in 2021 and 2022 for different levels of competition including the national championship in 2022. The 2020 year budget already has $15000 appropriated with $15000 set aside for 2021 and 55,000 for 2022.
–The board also approved allocation of requested $5200 the TN Bass Federation 3 day tournament to be held in October of 2021 projecting 240 anglers and staff to be in attendance.
