Early Voting Period Ends Saturday

Time is running out for Tennesseans planning to vote early in the State and Federal Primary and County General election. Early voting ends Saturday, Aug. 1.
The State and Federal Primary and County General election is Thursday, Aug. 6.
 As always, early voting occurs in each county’s election commission offices. At both Henry County and Obion County, Saturday’s hours are 9 a.m. to noon.

Heavy turnout has been reported in the local area since early voting began July 17.

In Henry County, as of Thursday afternoon, a total 2,634 people voted early, with Democrat ballots at 657 and Republican 1,927, general ballots 50.

In Obion County, the overall total as of Thursday afternoon was 1928: Democrat 245; Republican 1,676 and general ballot 7.

COVID-19 safety protocols are in place at the county election offices.

The Henry County Election Commission is at 215 Grove Blvd., Paris, and Obion County’s Election Commission is at 308 Bill Burnett Circle, Union City.

Tennesseans voting early or on Election Day should remember to bring valid photo identification to the polls. A driver’s license or photo ID issued by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, by Tennessee state government or by the federal government are acceptable even if they are expired. College student IDs are not acceptable.
