Paris, Tenn.–Officers of the Paris Elks Lodge recently presented a $2,000 check to the Paris-Henry County Food Bank. The local Elks applied for a Spotlight Grant through the Elks National Foundation and were recently notified of the award. The National Foundation has released $3.7 million to provide relief to communities from the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Food Bank has reopened after being temporarily closed due to a lack of available volunteers. Many of the Food Bank’s volunteers are elderly and unable to volunteer their time due to being in a high-risk category for the COVID-19 virus.
David Flowers, who is a member of the Food Bank Board of Directors, said the Food Bank reopened this past Monday “and business has been brisk. We did have some new volunteers so something good came out of the bad news.”
Phone is 731 642 3172 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food is distributed to those that are approved on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 3 PM.
