Attempted Murder Charge Dropped After Victim Refuses To Testify

McKenzie, Tenn.–A charge of attempted first-degree murder was dropped Wednesday against a Humbolt man in Weakley County General Sessions Court after the victim refused to come to court and testify.

Malcolm Omar Lee, age 18, had been charged with shooting another 18-year-old May 27. The victim was shot five times by a 9 mm pistol fired through the front door of his parents’ house at 1521 Union Church Road. This is located north of McKenzie in Weakley County.

Weakley County Investigator Randall McGowan said both of the victim’s parents and his brother were also in the house at the time. After the shooting, Malcolm Omar Lee of Humbolt Tennessee was arrested by investigators from the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department and charged with attempted first degree murder. On Wednesday August 19th 2020 the charges were dropped in Weakley County General Sessions Court after the victim refused to come to court and testify.
