Paris, Tenn.–Independent Candidate John Penn Ridgeway is officially on the ballot as a candidate for Henry County Mayor.
This morning, he presented his signed petition in to the Henry County Election Commission, which formally accepted it with 25 qualified signatures.
Ridgeway is the Vice President at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Paris.
Deadline for returning Independent petitions for the positions of County Mayor and Sheriff is noon September 9. September 12 is the deadline for withdrawing candidacy.
Those two races–along with city and municipal races–are on the November 3 general election ballot.
There are four other candidates for the County Mayor post: Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell, former State Rep. Tim Wirgau, Shaun Poole and Daniel Boudrie.
For Republican or Democrat candidates, the local political parties will decide whether to conduct caucuses to nominate candidates for those positions.
The Henry County Republican Party has set a caucus for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at the fairgrounds.
Two candidates also have taken out petitions for the office of County Sheriff–Chief Deputy Damon Lowe and Paris Police Lt. Josh Frey.
