UCHS Tunes Up For Thursday Showdown With Another Win

Union City, Tenn.–Union City primed for its Thursday showdown at Halls with another volleyball victory on Tuesday.

 The Lady Tornadoes improved to 6-1 overall and remained unbeaten after four District 13A matches with a 3-0 victory over Gibson County at Marty Sisco Gymnasium.

 UC will play at Halls — the perennial league kingpin — Thursday in a battle of teams tied for first place in the district.

 The Twister girls were again solid in beating GC 25-18, 25-12 and 25-15 on Tuesday.

 Samantha George delivered 20 service points while Marlee Johnson added 18 in the Union City triumph.

 Abby Suiter also was big part of the Purple and Gold attack with 17 kills. Anna Cheatham had 14 kills, Johnson was good for 13 and both Raegan Taylor and Kaigan Davis delivered 11 kills each.

 Steady defensive coverage was provided by Annie Wade, Sara Ullrich and Chloe Pritchard.

Thursday’s match at Halls is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Union City’s prep golf match at Weakley County and the Lady Tornado middle school softball game scheduled at Lake Road Tuesday were both canceled by rain.
