Memphis Grizzlies Guard Ja Morant was named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year, garnering 99 out of 100 first-place votes.
Morant was the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft out of Murray State. The Murray State Athletic Department posted the news on its Facebook page with the message: “Congrats to the one and only Ja Morant on being named NBA Rookie of the Year! Racer Nation is proud of you!”
Morant finished with 498 points, way ahead of second-place Miami Heat guard Kendrick Nunn with 204 points, and third-place Zion Williamson, who is a New Orleans Pelicans forward and finished with 140 points. Williamson was the top pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
