It is imperative that the public donate blood immediately!
“Right now, the blood supply is dangerously low across the country and here in West Tennessee because of decreased blood donations during the pandemic,” said Tonya Johnson, Director of Community Services at LIFELINE
Blood Services. “We desperately need the public to respond now by coming to the Blood Center, ”
Johnson continued.
“Some people have been hesitant to give blood during the COVID-19 pandemic, we want
people to understand that LIFELINE Blood Services is following all safety guidelines to keep donors safe, and that giving blood is classified as an essential activity, there is still no substitute for blood, patients won’t have it if donors quit giving,” said Cherie Parker, LIFELINE’s Public Relations Manager.
“Unfortunately, not enough folks have come in to give blood during the past several weeks and now the supply is gravely low,” Parker added.
LIFELINE Officials are urging individuals who have given before to come in and give
again and for others who have never given blood to step up and give. “West Tennesseans are
wonderful people and we need you to support your local blood center. Please don’t wait. We need you now, ” Tonya Johnson pleaded.
