Paris, Tenn.–Newly-elected Henry County Schools board of education member Junior Staggs was welcomed on board as board members were sworn in by County Mayor Brent Greer before Thursday evening’s regular meeting.
At the meeting’s outset, Jill Coker was re-elected Chairman and Tom Beasley was elected vice-chairman.
The meeting was short, with a long list of second readings of resolutions delayed until next month to allow Staggs time to review them.
Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins issued acknowledgements for hard work to bus drivers, teachers, school nurses and the trio of Stephanie Winders, Tiffany Latta and Melissa Hollingsworth who have been working on daily updates of the COVID-19 situation. Dr. Watkins said Latta, Winders and Hollingsworth “are an amazing team”.
Bus drivers also were recognized with a proclamation honoring the work they’ve been doing.
District Maintenance Supervisor John Akers said in his report that work continues on the concession stands at Patriot Stadium. He said the stands will be widened by 10 feet and bathrooms expanded.
