Giving Tuesday For West Tennessee To Help 80 Agencies

giving-tues

This GivingTuesday, over 80 nonprofits will unite on Dec. 1 as #GivingTuesday731 in order to enable individuals to further serve their 731 community.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. As participants of this event, #GivingTuesday731 will kick off this year’s generosity season, inspiring people to give back.

Back in May, over 50 nonprofits throughout West Tennessee raised $150,000 on #GivingTuesdayNow. Several months later, we still could not have foreseen the ways COVID-19 continues to impact our community. So, #GivingTuesday731 is encouraging the 731 community to join with them in the effort to raise $300,000 for local nonprofits.

“2020 has thrown us all for a loop, nonprofits included,” started Matt Marshall, United Way of West Tennessee President and CEO. “Yet, we’re excited that these local nonprofits are collaborating to overcome these challenging times. We hope our 731 community will rally together to support their favorite nonprofit(s) on GivingTuesday as we stand and serve together.”

GivingTuesday launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, this idea has grown into a worldwide movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just one day, but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO and Co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.
