Union City Mother Charged In Child’s Death

Union City, Tenn.–A 14-month-old child died after being scalded in hot bath water and the child’s mother has been arrested.

Union City Police officers responded to Union City Baptist Memorial Hospital November 10 in reference to the baby who had been burned.

The child was found to have been scalded by bath water over 47% of his body. The incident occurred at 110 S. Miles Ave. Union City, TN.

According to the police department press release, the child was transferred to the Arkansas Children’s hospital burn unit. The child passed away at the hospital from his injuries November 14.

The child’s mother, Laureen McArthur, has been charged with child abuse and negligent homicide in connection with the child’s death. Ms. McArthur has been arrested in Cullman, Alabama. She was extradited on Monday from Alabama to Obion County.
