Three Adults, One Juvenile Arrested At Burglary In Progress

Murray, Ky.–A burglary in progress led to the arrest of three adults and one juvenile in Calloway County Tuesday night.
On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Calloway County Sheriff’s Deputies J. Beeler, T. Reynolds, and C. Tidwell responded to a residence on Landmark Circle for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon their arrival, deputies located and detained four individuals on the property.
Preliminary investigation has indicated Kenneth Helton, Shelby Richard, Liberty Schaeffer, and a male juvenile were in the process of removing items from the residence immediately prior to the arrival of deputies. The front door of the residence also appeared to have been forced open. The owner of the property arrived at the scene and identified items loaded into a vehicle registered to Schaeffer as having come from inside the residence.
Kenneth W. Helton, age 32, of Mayfield, Kentucky, was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd Degree (Class C Felony) and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree (Class D Felony). Shelby L. Richard, age 29, of Murray, Kentucky, and Liberty B. Schaeffer, age 19, of Haltom City, Texas, were arrested and each charged with Burglary 2nd Degree (Class C Felony). Helton, Richard, and Schaeffer were all lodged in the Calloway County Jail. The juvenile was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and released to an adult family member.
