
Jackson, Tenn.–West Tennessee Healthcare received its first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday morning, December 17, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
According to Tina Prescott, Chief Operating Officer, approximately 1,950 medical professionals
will be vaccinated in the next 5 days and the health system will be sending vaccines to all of its
hospitals in the region.
Prescott said, “This is a huge step for the workers on the front line, and we are very
excited to begin administering the vaccine. The vaccine will be administered first to inpatient
and other high-exposure health care team members.”
Since the beginning of the pandemic, West Tennessee Healthcare facilities have tested over
24,000 patients for COVID-19 and have cared for more than 5,000 hospitalized patients.
