Bethany Edwards Named Paris BPU Vice President-Administration & Finance

Paris, Tenn.–At the December meeting of the Paris Utility Authority Board of Directors, Paris BPU President and CEO Terry Wimberley announced that long-time employee Bethany Edwards would be the organizations new Vice President of Administration and Finance, effective January 1, 2021.

“Bethany has served as interim since late October and has made a positive impact on our organization during that time,” Wimberley said. “Her display of leadership coupled with her 18 years of experience in numerous roles within our organization made Bethany the ideal candidate for this position and she has my full support.”

The Board approved the bid by Security Bank for the main electric general account for calendar year 2021.  Wimberley explained, “Paris BPU thoroughly evaluated three bids, all from local banks.” After providing the board with information on each of the three bids, Wimberley made the recommendation to the board to select Security Bank’s bid.

Paris BPU Brand Solutions & Strategic Communications Manager Meagan Hart provided the board with a yearly update on the utility’s communications and marketing efforts. Hart noted that the organization has received recognition from across the Tennessee Valley for their Elf Barry campaign.

Looking forward, Hart said, “In 2021 we hope to offer our customers virtual Energy Saver Workshops like our in-person classes we did prior to COVID and look for ways to enhance the MyBPU App to make it more user friendly.

In his President’s report, Wimberley reported no active COVID-19 cases within the organization and that to date, the utility has only had four positives cases.

In other general business, the board approved the minutes from the last regular meeting on November 24 and reviewed the utilities monthly financial and statistical reports.

The January meeting of the Board will take place on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
